- >In any case only symbols in the ascii set from 33-126 may be used,
- I don't understand why <SPACE> can't be used.
-
- >So ^A is shift-control-A and ^a is just control-A?
- A user could think, that he'll get ^A if he presses ^a while CapsLock is
- active.
- Shift-CTRL-A is better than CTRL-A because it shows that the CapsLock key
- has no effect.
- Also it says 'A' on the key, not 'a', and we want the menu to tell us what
- keys to press. If it says "^a", I'll press <CTRL> and 'a'. If it says ^A,
- I'll still press <CTRL> and 'a'. It wouldn't want a program if it made me
- think about what to press instead of just telling me. How would you like a
- program that says "2+2" when it should say "4"? I would trash it right
- away.
-
- >The only way the standards are compatible is if the App-defs file is
- >never changed,
- Exactly. That's why I'm against all this "configure-your-own-shortcuts"
- crap. A real standard has to be a "take-it-or-leave-it" thing, or else
- it's only a recommendation. If you let the user do what he fells like, the
- programmers will use that as an excuse to divert from the standard.
- If there's no majority against APP_DEFS.SYS, then we must make sure that
- programmers have to support APP_DEFS.SYS.
